Tip: When choosing lever handle sets, pay attention to the centre-to-centre distance and the door leaf dimensions – especially during renovations, modern handles often do not fit without adjustment.
What are lever handle sets made of and where are they used?
A lever handle set consists of two parts: handle and lock. These can be connected via a backplate or separated visually. In the second case, a rosette surrounds the lock. In terms of functionality, one version is no better than the other. The difference lies in the appearance: lever handle sets with rosettes look a little more modern and minimalist, which is why they are often used in new buildings. Lever handle sets with backplates are also available with decorations or patterns. These are mainly used in country-style and rustic homes.
The materials: as diverse as you are
Just as tastes differ, so do the materials from which lever handle sets for interior doors are made. The most affordable option is door handles made of aluminum. Sets made of stainless steel or brass are more robust and durable than those made of aluminum and therefore more expensive. Special forged lever handle sets are a real eye-catcher, but due to the complex manufacturing process they are in the higher price segment.
When it comes to color, you have a wide selection. Whether silver, brass-colored, black, or with ceramic inlays: we have the right lever handle set in our range for every preference and taste.
Good to know: Material and color have no influence on functionality. Affordable lever handle sets made of aluminum work just as well as those made of stainless steel or wrought iron. The choice of material therefore depends primarily on your preferences and budget.
Special solution: lever handle set for the WC door
Lever handle sets for WC doors are equipped with a special locking function. A turn knob allows locking from the inside. In an emergency, however, the lock can also be opened from the outside.
3 common questions about door handles and our answers
We are frequently asked questions about lever handle sets for room doors. We would like to answer the three most common ones here:
Can I install lever handle sets myself?
Installing a door handle is not rocket science. With a little DIY skill, you can do it quickly and easily yourself. In the third part of our “Ultimate Door Guide” you will find a step-by-step guide. If any questions arise during installation, our customer service team will be happy to help.
Can a lever handle set for interior doors also be used for exterior doors?
Door handles for interior doors are not designed for outdoor use. In particular, the mechanism cannot withstand weather influences such as rain, moisture, or temperature fluctuations. We recommend using special lever handle sets for exterior doors that are suitable for outdoor use.
Can I replace an old lever handle set with a new one?
Of course you can replace an old door handle with a new one. We recommend choosing a set that is roughly the same size and shape as the old one. Otherwise, edges on the door leaf or color differences caused by the darkening of wooden doors may become visible. When buying, make sure that the fixing plates of the new set fit the existing holes in the door. Since lever handle sets are standardized, this should normally not cause any problems.
