Can cable trunking be mounted on any type of wall?

Yes, you can install cable ducts on almost any type of wall. However, the type of wall can determine which method and material are best suited for installation.

There are basically three types of walls on which cable ducts are commonly mounted:

  • Concrete, stone, or masonry walls: In these cases, wall plugs and screws are often the best choice. They provide secure fastening that can withstand high loads.
  • Wood or drywall walls: Simple screws can often be used here. For thin or weak walls, additional boards or reinforcements may be necessary to better distribute the load.
  • Metal or sheet metal walls: Installing cable ducts here can be a challenge. Special fasteners are usually required, such as self-drilling screws or rivets.

Regardless of the wall type, you should always make sure that the cable ducts are properly aligned and firmly secured. Once installed, they should not wobble or move. After all, they must safely house the cables and protect them from damage.
