Can I use wall hooks and device holders on any type of wall?

It is not always possible to use wall hooks or equipment holders on every type of wall, as the surface material and its strength determine the choice of hook or holder.

On smooth surfaces such as glass or tiles, adhesive hooks or suction hooks do not damage the wall with holes and are easy to use. However, they only hold lightweight items.

For surfaces such as drywall or plasterboard, special wall hooks are required. These usually have anchored backs that spread behind the panel to distribute the weight evenly and prevent cracks or damage to the wall.

Brick or concrete walls require heavy-duty hooks, and holes often need to be drilled into the wall with a drill. Screw hooks or bolt hooks are suitable for this type of wall.

  • Smooth surfaces (e.g. glass, tiles): adhesive hooks, suction hooks
  • Drywall: cavity anchors
  • Brick, concrete: screw hooks or bolt hooks.

In general, it is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and check the weight of the item to be hung before installing hooks or holders.
