How do I safely install hooks and eyelets in my wall?
Installing hooks and eyes on your wall requires a few simple steps:
- First, identify the exact location where you want to attach the hook or eye. Mark this point with a pencil.
- Depending on the type of wall, you will need different hooks. For drywall, special plastic wall plugs are best suited, while for concrete or brick walls, heavy-duty anchors and a hammer drill are required.
- Drill a hole at the marked spot. The size of the hole depends on the diameter of the chosen wall plug. Make sure the plug fits securely into the hole, but it should not be too tight.
- Push the wall plug into the hole. If it sits flush with the wall, you have done everything correctly.
- Then screw the hook or eye into the wall plug. Use a screwdriver or, for larger hooks, possibly a ratchet.
- Finally, test the hook or eye by carefully applying weight to it. If the hook or eye remains stable and holds the weight, the installation is successfully completed.
