How is a wardrobe lift installed and do I need a professional for it?

Installing a wardrobe lift is a relatively simple process that usually does not require specialist knowledge, provided you have basic DIY skills and the right tools.

First, you should measure the height at which the lift is to be installed, as well as the width of the closet or wardrobe area.

  • Mark the position where the brackets are to be attached, usually opposite walls or the sides of a cabinet. The height should make access to the wardrobe easy.
  • Use a spirit level to make sure the markings are straight. Then drill holes and secure the brackets with the screws provided.
  • Insert the lift rods into the prepared guide openings in the brackets and secure them.
  • Finally, attach the crossbar or clothes rail to the lift and check that everything is secure and stable.

It is not absolutely necessary to hire a professional for this task. However, it is advisable if you do not feel comfortable with such installation work or if the installation is more complex, for example if modifications to the existing structure are required.
