What fastening materials do I need for a drywall partition wall?
When building a drywall partition wall, you need various fastening materials to construct it safely and stably.
- Plasterboard panels: These are the main components of the wall. They are available in various thicknesses and sizes.
- Metal profiles (stud framing): These serve as the framework for the plasterboard panels. They provide stability and can easily accommodate cables and pipes. This includes UW profiles for the top and bottom tracks as well as CW profiles for vertical fastening.
- Drywall screws: These are used to attach the plasterboard panels to the metal stud framing. Choosing the correct length is important and depends on how thick your panels are.
- Wall plugs and screws: You need these to fasten the metal stud framing to the floor, ceiling and/or adjacent walls.
- Mineral wool insulation boards: These are optional, but can be inserted into the cavity of the wall to improve sound and/or thermal insulation.
- Drywall adhesive and joint tape: These are used for finishing and sealing the wall so that it is smooth and ready for painting or plastering.
Make sure you have all the necessary tools such as a screwdriver, drill, utility knife and tape measure at hand before you start building.
