Generally, the following are available: 2-part or 3-part hinges, TECTUS hinges, barrel hinges or 3D hinges. While 2-part door hinges are usually standard for interior doors, 3-part versions are worthwhile for heavily used doors, oversized doors, solid hardwood doors, and exterior doors. In terms of installation, door hinges can also be roughly divided into two categories:

• Screw-on door hinges: This version is not only affordable, but also quick to install – screw-on door hinges are screwed to both the frame and the door leaf. However, anyone choosing this should bear in mind that this type is neither adjustable nor readjustable, and compromises also have to be made in terms of security. If a flush installation is desired, the hinge must also be recessed into the door leaf and frame.
• Drill-in door hinges: Drill-in door hinges are much more minimalist – and therefore more discreet. They stand out for their high stability, and if fitted with a security pin, they make it harder for burglars to lever the door open.
